Since 1959, Western Contract has been a respected source for
a full line of business and home furnishing, space planning, interior
design and related services. In its early years, WCF was part of a
network of stores that originated in San Francisco, spanning throughout
California and Hawaii. In 1974, Don Turner became the president of
Western Contract in Sacramento and turned his attention to
planning and furnishing quality environments for both home and office.
In 1982, he became sole owner of the Sacramento location.
Guided by Mr. Turner, WCF established long-term relationships with many
vendors and generated a large volume of business with major
corporations. WCF's business grew steadily as its clients came to expect
excellent furnishings and services at competitive prices-a formula they
also requested for their personal residences.
In 1985, the company moved to its current location in Rancho Cordova
along the busy Highway 50 corridor. Thanks to its spacious
28,000-square-foot facility, WCF features more than 800 lines of quality
furnishings in a variety of price points, as well as an immense resource
gallery of carpeting, wall and window coverings, fabrics and accessories
for both home and business.
In 1991, Mr. Turner sold the majority of his stock to the company's
employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). The ESOP now owns 100 percent of
the outstanding shares.
Over the years, Western Contract has earned a reputation as a
single source for quality merchandise and ancillary services at real
savings. Proving its position as an industry innovator, WCF was an early
pioneer of computer-aided drafting and design. Floor to ceiling, it
ensures that its clients' interior design needs are well met, from
selecting furnishings to providing a full spectrum of services that
compliment business interiors.
